“The passing of Mr. Bhaskar Das ( BD as he was known to everybody who knew and loved him) is an immense loss to the advertising and media fraternity. BD was not just an industry stalwart but also a true champion of creativity and collaboration. His unwavering support for Goafest, right from the heady initial days, played a pivotal role in shaping the festival into the iconic event it is today.
I have had the privilege of knowing BD since his time at the Times of India, where he was a true and worthy successor to another industry doyen, Pradeep Guha. His visionary leadership and deep understanding of the industry were unparalleled. When he was with DNA, he even extended the kind gesture of inviting me to be an honorary editor of their real estate supplement—a memory I hold dear and one that reflects his knack for bringing people together and fostering collaboration.
BD was an intrinsic part of almost every edition of Goafest, bringing his wisdom, enthusiasm, and unmatched energy to the table. Even as recently as the 17th edition in May 2024, his presence was invaluable. He was always available, always supportive, and always inspiring to those around him.
His generosity of spirit and dedication to nurturing talent will forever be remembered. We will miss him dearly. On behalf of the entire Goafest family, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife Shomshukla, son Uditvanu and all his loved ones. May his soul rest in peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire us all.”
