Advertising veteran Vikram Sakhuja has been elected as the new chairman of the Media Research Users Council of India (MRUCI), highly placed sources have told e4m. Sakhuja replaces Jagran Media’s Shailesh Gupta.
Sakhuja, who is the Partner Group CEO - Madison Media & OOH, was the Vice Chairman of the council in the last term.
The board approved his appointment on Monday during the annual general meeting.
Dhruba Mukherjee, CEO of ABP Pvt Ltd, has been elected as the Vice Chairman.
IPG Mediabrand’s Executive Chairman Shashi Sinha has been elected the new chairman of the IRS Technical Committee. Sakhuja was the tech comm head earlier.
An IIT Delhi and IIM Kolkata alumnus, Vikram has over 38 years of experience in Marketing (P&G, Coca-Cola), Media (Star TV), and Advertising (Mindshare, Group M, Maxus WW, Madison). Prior to joining Madison World, he was the Global CEO of Maxus Worldwide, Global Strategy Development Officer at Group M, CEO of GroupM South Asia, and CEO of Mindshare South Asia.
Mukherjee holds an MBA degree from Calcutta University. He is also an alumnus of London School of Economics & Political Science and also graduated from the Senior Executive Leadership Program of the Harvard Business School. He has been with the ABP Group since 1997.
The career of Sinha, also an IITian and an MBA from IIM Bangalore, spans nearly four decades–from launching India’s first specialized media agency, Lodestar, to being the CEO of IPG Mediabrands India since it entered the India market in 2012.
