How Good Food Helps in the Journey

Nitin Raj, CEO & Co-founder, Riverum, writes how eating good food during travel can be a blessing like no other.

How Good Food Helps in the Journey

My last trip to Singapore with my wife was an eye-opening experience in many ways, but one of the most important lessons I learned was the importance of eating good food while traveling. Good food can provide the much-needed energy for long days of exploration and sightseeing, and it can also be a great way to experience the local culture and cuisine. On our trip, we made it a point to eat healthy, even if it meant making an extra effort to find the right kind of food. We researched local restaurants and markets that offered healthy and delicious options, and we packed plenty of snacks for our long days outdoors. While we were initially worried that it would be difficult to find healthy options, we were pleasantly surprised to find that there were plenty of delicious and nutritious options available. Eating good food on our trip gave us the energy and focus we needed to tackle our long to-do list, and make the most of our time in Singapore. We sampled local dishes and explored new flavors, and the healthy fuel kept us going throughout the day. Eating good food also gave us the opportunity to appreciate the culture and the environment in a deeper way, as we connected with the local cuisine.
Eating good food has been an integral part of my journey around the world. From the bustling markets of the UK to the exotic cuisine of Singapore, I’ve had the opportunity to try a wide variety of dishes that I wouldn’t normally have access to at home. With such a diverse range of cultural influences, I’ve been able to experience the unique flavors of each location.

As I mentioned, I can be a bit of a foodie, so I’ve had to set limits on my food choices to make sure I don’t overindulge. In addition to enjoying the local cuisine, I also make sure to set some limits when it comes to eating on the road. Limiting my food choices helps to keep my meals balanced and reduces the risk of overeating. For example, I choose one or two specific meals to eat each day, such as a hearty breakfast. This way, I can make sure I’m getting all the nutrients I need without overindulging.

When I had the chance to visit the UK, I was determined to make the most of it and try some of the unique and traditional dishes that the country had to offer. I was not disappointed. From the fresh fish and chips of Scotland, to the savory pies and puddings of England, to the barmbrack of Northern Ireland, there was something for everyone. I was particularly excited to try some of the more unique dishes, such as haggis and black pudding. To my surprise, the flavors, aromas and textures of these dishes were truly amazing. In Scotland, I had the chance to try some of the freshest and most flavorful fish and chips I had ever tasted. I also had the opportunity to experience some traditional pies and puddings of England. The combination of flaky pastry and the rich fillings was simply divine.
