Advertising often works best when it holds up a mirror to life. June’s finest campaigns found meaning in ordinary moments, and turned deeply personal journeys into ideas that felt both fresh and universal. They reminded us that resilience can be graceful; fatherhood can be celebrated without clichés; and even long-held assumptions deserve to be questioned. Some entertained with clever wit, others moved with quiet honesty, but each found its own way of leaving an impression. As Father’s Day filled the month with conversations around family and anticipation grew over the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, brands found several thoughtful ways to become part of larger cultural moments.
Campaign: ‘Play Gently? That's Not How Our Girls Play’
Cricket has long been introduced as a ‘gentleman’s game’, but Hyundai’s ‘Play Gently?’ finds a clever loophole in the phrase. The problem isn’t with the word, gentleman—it’s with gentle. The film follows India’s women cricketers as they smash, dive, compete and celebrate with unapologetic intensity. The irony writes itself. Every shot dismantles the stereotype without ever feeling preachy, culminating in the line, ‘Na hum gentle hain, aur na men.’ It’s a neat piece of wordplay that reminds audiences elite sport has never been about being gentle; it has always been about playing to win.

Campaign:‘My eyes are up here’

Some visuals are so simple that you wonder why no one thought of them sooner. XYXX’s ‘My Eyes Are Up Here’ turns a familiar social experience on its head by imagining men being judged for visible vest lines the way women have long been scrutinised for bra straps. The role reversal is funny, awkward and plain uncomfortable. The film wraps a social observation inside a product demonstration. It prompts audiences to deeply reflect while enjoying a laugh, proving that sometimes the smartest conversations begin with the smallest everyday details.

Campaign:‘The Ballet of Life’
Life is seldom defined by its victories alone. The falls, pauses, and the courage to begin again give it meaning. Jos Allukas’ ‘The Ballet of Life’ captures this beautifully, using ballet as a metaphor for resilience. The film follows a woman navigating rejection, hurdles, doubt, breakdown and eventual success. It reminds viewers that grace is often forged through struggle, and celebrates the journey instead of just the destination. The campaign subtly transforms jewellery into a marker of perseverance, honouring not just moments of triumph, but also the stories that make them possible.

Campaign:‘Sixth Sense’
ITC Mangaldeep’s ‘Sixth Sense’ challenges the way we think about inclusion. Set around an innocent conversation between two friends, the film reveals how a visually impaired boy identifies an untold truth through his heightened sense of smell. That ‘ordinary’ moment opens the door to a bigger story—Mangaldeep’s real-life Sixth Sense initiative, where more than 180 visually impaired fragrance experts help develop and evaluate its incense products. Instead of depicting them as beneficiaries of a social cause, the campaign celebrates them as specialists.

Campaign: ‘Baaptaa’
Father’s Day campaigns mostly celebrate the emotions fathers struggle to express. Reliance Digital’s ‘Baaptaa’ looks elsewhere. Instead of searching for the softer side of dads, it celebrates the many roles they slip into without thinking. The strict parent whose look is enough to restore order, the family’s ATM, the keeper of every ‘jugaad’, the scratch guard protecting dreams, and the one who volunteers to solve every problem. Spanning fathers across different stages of life, the musical, humour-led film ties together these familiar traits into one playful term, ‘Baaptaa’.
