India’s advertising, media and communications industry came together at Goafest 2026 to felicitate Prasoon Joshi on his appointment as Chairman of Prasar Bharati, in addition to his ongoing role at Omnicom.
Widely regarded as one of India’s leading creative and communication voices, Joshi has played a significant role in shaping cultural and brand narratives across advertising, literature and cinema. The recognition at Goafest acknowledged both his contribution to the industry and his new responsibility at India’s public service broadcaster.
Over the years, Joshi’s work has combined creativity with cultural insight and mass storytelling. Industry leaders at the event noted that his appointment comes at a time when public communication and national broadcasting are increasingly evolving alongside changing audience expectations and media consumption habits.
Speaking at the event, Padma Shri Prasoon Joshi, Chairman, Omnicom Advertising India and Chairman, Prasar Bharati, said, “Recognition from one’s own fraternity is always special. I accept it with gratitude and a deep sense of responsibility. The advertising industry has shaped and continues to sharpen my understanding of people, culture and storytelling. Prasar Bharati now offers the privilege of applying that understanding in the service of the nation and a larger public purpose.”
Joshi has previously served as Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification and is also the author of several books.
Goafest 2026 is jointly organised by the Advertising Agencies Association of India and The Advertising Club.
