Shortly after the formal announcement on Omnicom's leadership structure globally today, IMPACT has learnt from reliable sources that Prasoon Joshi will be leading Omnicom's Creative portfolio in India.
Prasoon Joshi is a highly respected Indian poet, lyricist, screen-writer, and advertising veteran widely regarded as one of the most influential creative voices in India’s advertising and film worlds.
Joshi began his career in advertising in 1992 with Ogilvy & Mather in Delhi; after roughly a decade, he moved to McCann Worldgroup (then McCann-Erickson). Rising through the ranks, he eventually became CEO & CCO, McCann Worldgroup India and Chairman of McCann Asia Pacific.
Under his leadership, McCann created many iconic campaigns, from the celebrated “Thanda Matlab Coca-Cola” for Coca-Cola to emotionally resonant social-impact advertisements for campaigns like sanitation, polio eradication, and public health.
Simultaneously, Joshi built a formidable career in film and music.
Globally Omnicom has announced the retention of only three brands from the creative portfolio, namely BBDO, McCann and TBWA. In India FCB will be folded into McCann. While Mullen Lowe Lintas is expected to be part of TBWA.
Globally Troy Ruhanen will be the CEO of Omnicom Advertising, including BBDO, McCann, TBWA, and the U.S. Advertising Collective.
