India has secured one shortlist in the Sustainable Development Goals category at Cannes Lions 2026, taking the country’s overall shortlist tally to 24 across all the categories announced.
The shortlisted entry is Mothers of Courage - Shifting Societal Norms, One Conversation at a Time for Shiksha Chaupal, a community-led initiative championed by women to support girls’ education. The entry was submitted by Mantra Social Services, Bangalore and ShikshaLokam, Bangalore.
The campaign focuses on shifting societal attitudes towards girls’ education through community-led conversations, with women playing a central role in driving awareness and encouraging change at the grassroots level.
How India fared in 2025
India secured one shortlist in the Sustainable Development Goals category last year and converted it into a win.
BBDO India won a Silver Lion for Ariel #ShareTheLoad, a campaign that continued the brand’s long-running effort to challenge gender stereotypes and promote a more equitable division of household responsibilities.
