Indian Silk House Agencies launches its latest Poila Baishakh campaign ‘Shubho Smriti’, bringing together voices of 100 women and their stories of celebration. The digital-first campaign reflects on their memories of celebrating the Bengali New Year and how, with each passing year, the saree continues to be an essential part of the story. The brand has been woven into Bengal’s cultural fabric and the initiative captures the celebration as a deeply personal yet shared tradition carried forward over time.
Curated through a digital-first initiative, the stories bring together deeply personal memories tied to Poila Baishakh. They move from daughters wanting to gift their mothers a saree after years of quiet sacrifice, to first celebrations experienced in unfamiliar cultures, and sarees passed down through generations carrying decades of love and tradition. Some capture a sense of belonging found in unexpected places, while others return to childhood moments of pujo, food and family. They reflect how the saree finds its place in the most personal celebrations, is defined by the emotions and memories people carry with it.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Darshan Dudhoria, CEO, Indian Silk House Agencies, said, “What gives any tradition its relevance over time are the memories people attach to it. During Poila Baishakh, these memories often come to the surface, especially in Bengal, where a saree becomes part of that experience. For over five decades, Indian Silk House Agencies has been closely connected to this cultural fabric. What these stories highlight is how the meaning of the festival continues to evolve with people’s lives. This campaign came from a simple intent, to listen to these stories of our customers and bring them together.”
To celebrate the Bengali New Year, Indian Silk House Agencies has launched a dedicated Poila Baishakh collection that reflects the colour palettes and emotions of the festival while staying rooted in Bengal’s rich weaving traditions. The collection features handwoven textiles such as Matka silk and Jamdani, alongside classic reds and whites, softer seasonal hues and brighter options, capturing how tradition continues to evolve with personal expression. It serves as a tribute to the craftsmanship that keeps these traditions alive through generations.
