AGL-Hakuhodo (AdGlobal360), a member of Hakuhodo International, has integrated ChatGPT Ads into its digital paid media strategy as the agency explores advertising opportunities in AI-mediated consumer journeys.
The integration adds conversational intent matching to traditional keyword-based advertising. Through OpenAI’s Ads Manager, campaigns can be structured around user context and prompts, allowing brands to reach consumers while they are actively seeking solutions or comparing options.
AGL-Hakuhodo is initially rolling out pilot campaigns with select enterprise clients, allocating a portion of experimental budgets to OpenAI Ads. The agency plans to scale spends as inventory expands and conversion benchmarks are established.
The initial pilots will focus on five sectors: automotive, education, real estate, CPG and BFSI, where the agency says purchase journeys are increasingly influenced by conversational discovery.
The move also changes how paid advertising can operate within active decision-making journeys, with richer intent signals and placements designed to direct users who are already seeking solutions or comparing alternatives towards relevant brand experiences.
According to the agency, paid placements remain distinct from ChatGPT’s organic responses, while advertisers do not gain access to individual conversations or personal data.
Rakesh Yadav, Founder & CEO, AGL-Hakuhodo, said, “We see conversational advertising as a discipline to build from the ground up. For our clients, that means two commitments: mapping real conversational context to genuinely useful, high-converting experiences, and tying every campaign back to their own first-party data, so incrementality and return are clear from the outset. We aim to set the benchmark for Generative Engine Marketing in India, and to ensure the spend that moves here is measured and accountable.”
As part of the integration, AGL-Hakuhodo plans to develop proprietary Intent Frameworks and prompt-mapping methodologies to connect conversational intent with relevant landing experiences. It also plans to integrate OpenAI’s Pixel and Conversions API with clients’ first-party tracking tools, including GA4 and marketing mix modelling, to develop full-funnel attribution, incrementality and blended ROAS models.
The initiative is part of AGL-Hakuhodo’s broader approach to Generative Engine Marketing (GEM), informed by Hakuhodo’s Sei-Katsu-Sha philosophy of understanding consumers as whole individuals. The agency said the approach is aimed at connecting marketing with consumers at moments of need as discovery increasingly takes place within AI-driven experiences.
