In its latest campaign, WhatsApp focuses on the importance of private communication, featuring father-daughter duo Ananya and Chunky Panday. The advertisement centres around the two planning a surprise birthday party, using WhatsApp to navigate guest lists, music choices and family discussions.
The video includes references to private messages, a cryptic guestlist, and dance suggestions, alongside generational exchanges between the two. Through the campaign, WhatsApp reiterates its message: “On WhatsApp, no one can see or hear any of your personal messages.”
Ananya and Chunky Panday use the platform to exchange messages that reflect everyday family interactions, including teasing, past memories, and coordination. Elements such as miscommunication, inside jokes, and family banter are part of the storyline, with the concept of ‘Gibberish’ used to represent the private and sometimes unintelligible nature of personal chats.
Ananya Panday said, “Some of the most hilarious and heartwarming moments with my family unfold in our WhatsApp group. From the cheerful good morning GIFs and inside jokes to Dad's signature thumbs-up messages, this video captures the essence of real life. It's a reminder that privacy is about creating a safe, comforting space for genuine connection with the people who make life worth sharing. Nothing beats the joy of sharing a good laugh with those who know you best.”
Chunky Panday added, “I'm the king of dad jokes and it’s a good thing that these conversations stay private – Ananya wouldn't want my jokes to get out. This conversation you see in the film is a typical scene in the Panday household, reflecting the bond we share – filled with private moments, candid remarks, and constant playful teasing. And WhatsApp is truly where the real conversations happen, especially the embarrassing ones!”
