Ankur Warikoo has announced the closure of his online education and upskilling business, despite the venture generating more than Rs 100 crore in sales and Rs 25 crore in profits since its launch in 2020.
Sharing the update on X, Warikoo described the decision as “difficult but necessary”, stating that continuing the business “did not make sense” anymore. He added that he would elaborate on the reasons behind the move and discuss his plans in a video scheduled for May 16 at 8:30 PM IST.
I am shutting down my 100 crores courses business.

We’ve grown beyond what I could have imagined, since we started in 2020.
5 lakh students.
100 crores in sales.
25 crores in profits.
But it makes no sense to continue it.
I’ll be sharing more about my decision and what… pic.twitter.com/hBfyX0Dqm7
Warikoo entered the online education space during the pandemic-driven digital boom, offering courses centred on productivity, personal finance, communication, and career growth. Over the years, he built a sizeable digital audience, with more than seven million YouTube subscribers and nearly four million Instagram followers.
The announcement sparked widespread discussion online, with several users speculating whether the growing influence of artificial intelligence and freely accessible learning resources played a role in the decision. Responding to one such comment, Warikoo hinted at AI’s impact on the sector, replying: “It should. And it has.”
The development comes amid broader shifts within India’s creator-led education and upskilling market, as AI tools, free learning platforms, and evolving consumer behaviour continue to reshape the industry.
