Apollo Hospitals has released a short film aimed at encouraging the public to use its 1066 emergency medical helpline rather than driving patients to hospital during emergencies.
The film presents two contrasting emergency response scenarios. In one, a patient is driven to hospital by her son, leading to delays and a deterioration in her condition. In the other, the 1066 helpline is used, prompting the arrival of an Apollo emergency team that begins treatment at the scene and transports the patient to hospital.
The message emphasises the importance of immediate medical attention at the site of the emergency. Apollo Hospitals handles over 300,000 emergency cases annually and was the first in India to introduce a centralised emergency helpline.
Ms. Sindoori Reddy, Director – Strategy, Apollo Hospitals, said, “With our extensive network of hospitals across the country and well-equipped fleet of ambulances, Apollo Hospitals is uniquely positioned to deliver protocol-driven emergency intervention. Our time-tested recovery outcomes are supported by a highly skilled medical team. With seamless coordination, we ensure the treatment starts right at your doorstep. This film is a reminder that in a medical emergency, calling 1066 could be the most important decision you make.”
Apollo ambulances are equipped with systems to record vital signs such as ECG, heart rate, and oxygen saturation, and can provide ventilator support during transit. Staffed by trained emergency personnel, they are prepared to handle trauma, cardiac issues, paediatric and maternal emergencies. The ambulances also relay information to the receiving hospital, allowing medical teams to prepare in advance.
Apollo’s emergency teams operate round the clock and are involved from the initial response through to hospital admission.
