Atomberg Technologies has launched what it claims is India’s first Pincode-Level Water Quality Intelligence Tool, a free consumer platform designed to help households assess local water quality before choosing a water purifier.
The launch comes a year after Atomberg entered the water purifier category with Intellon and reflects the company’s broader push towards consumer education and data-driven decision-making.
The tool provides users with insights into water quality in their neighbourhood by combining data from three sources: TDS readings from tens of thousands of Atomberg Intellon purifiers installed across India, water quality information from Jal Jeevan Mission monitoring stations, and groundwater data from the Central Ground Water Board and the Central Pollution Control Board.
Based on the entered pincode, the platform offers an estimated TDS range, seasonal water quality variations, microbial and chemical contamination indicators, household-level variations, safety assessments against BIS standards and recommendations on the most suitable purification method.
Unlike conventional sales-led recommendations, the tool does not automatically suggest an RO purifier. Depending on local water conditions, it may recommend simpler purification technologies such as UV systems or other alternatives.
Atomberg says the platform is free to access, requires no account creation and is not linked to any purchase journey. Users can also view the data sources and monitoring stations behind each recommendation.
Commenting on the launch, Sibabrata Das, Co-Founder and CEO, Atomberg Technologies, said, "A year ago, we set out to do more than sell water purifiers. We wanted to help people understand the water they drink and bring some transparency to a market that is largely fear-driven. Sometimes the right answer is a simple UV unit. Sometimes it is RO. And sometimes you do not need much at all. A lab test is still the best way to know your water. We have tried to build the second-best."
Arindam Paul, Chief Business Officer, Atomberg Technologies, added, “We now have TDS data from tens of thousands of Intellon purifiers installed across India. Combined with government water quality datasets, that data becomes genuinely useful for consumers. For the first time, someone buying a water purifier can look at the actual water quality data for their pincode and not just what a salesperson at the store is incentivised to recommend."
As more Intellon purifiers are installed across the country, Atomberg expects the platform’s dataset to become increasingly granular and location-specific, strengthening its utility for consumers evaluating water purification solutions.
