Private Lender Axis Bank has appointed Rahul Shukla as Group Head, Commercial and Bharat Banking, effective today.
In his new role, Shukla will be responsible for leading the bank’s commercial and Bharat Banking businesses, expanding the business and building customer relationships. Shukla will also join the bank’s senior management.
With over three decades of experience across wholesale, corporate, investment, commercial and rural banking, Shukla has served at HDFC Bank and Citibank.
He has spent almost 8 years at HDFC, most recently serving as the Group Head, Commercial and Rural Banking. In his initial days with HDFC, he has led Corporate Banking and Business Banking and Wholesale Banking.
Shukla has spent almost 25 years at Citibank, having joined in 1991, holding several senior positions across corporate and investment banking. He has served as the Managing Director and Head of TMT Investment Banking, Asia Pacific till 2010. Later, Shukla acted as the Managing Director and Head of Corporate Banking for South Asia, responsible for overseeing institutional client coverage across India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
He was also associated with Salomon Smith Barney Holdings, Salomon Brothers Inc and SBI Capital Markets.
