Barbie, the iconic brand from Mattel Inc., is celebrating International Women’s Day by honouring five extraordinary Indian women who have redefined their fields and inspired future generations with their resilience and achievements.
As part of its 2025 campaign, Barbie features Cricketer Harmanpreet Kaur, Singer Neeti Mohan, Fashion Designer Anamika Khanna, Chef Beena Noronha, and Firefighter Meghna Sakpal, each of whom has broken stereotypes and continues to pave the way for others to follow.
Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of the Indian women’s cricket team, has made history by becoming the first Indian woman to score a century in T20 international cricket. “As the first Indian woman to score a century in a T20 international, she has paved the way for aspiring female athletes to pursue professional sports,” Barbie said in a statement.
Neeti Mohan, a celebrated singer, has also made an immense impact on India’s music industry. Her rise from reality show contestant to renowned artist is a testament to perseverance. “Her journey from a reality show contestant to one of the country’s most recognizable voices reflects the power of perseverance and passion,” Barbie noted.
Fashion designer Anamika Khanna has been instrumental in modernising Indian couture while staying true to its rich cultural heritage. Barbie described her as a pioneer in fashion, stating, “Her innovative approach and commitment to craftsmanship continue to influence and inspire the fashion industry.”
Chef Beena Noronha, known for her work as head chef at Scarlett House, Lyla, and Gigi, has redefined the culinary scene in India. Barbie highlighted her contribution to the hospitality industry, stating, “Her success serves as an inspiration for women in hospitality, encouraging them to take on leadership roles in the industry.”
Meghna Sakpal, a third-generation firefighter, has emerged as a symbol of courage in a traditionally male-dominated field. Barbie celebrated her dedication to the profession, adding, “Her dedication to her profession highlights the importance of resilience and the belief that no profession is beyond reach.”
Through this campaign, Barbie continues to encourage young children to dream big, embodying the brand’s message, “You Can Be Anything.” Barbie has always strived to showcase real-life women who have defied the odds, inspiring children to believe in their limitless potential.
Barbie’s legacy of empowerment extends to India, where the brand has previously honoured icons like para-badminton champion Manasi Joshi and gymnast Dipa Karmakar.
This year’s International Women’s Day campaign highlights Barbie’s unwavering commitment to inclusion, representation, and fostering confidence in young minds, reinforcing the message that every child can achieve their dreams—no matter how unconventional.
