Bumble has brought its Bee Line advice series to India, bringing together women from different fields to address the questions and dilemmas shaping modern dating. Launched on October 17, the social-first series puts real-life dating scenarios at the centre of conversations around relationships and building connections.
Actor Janhvi Kapoor leads the India edition as the first host, sharing her perspective on the questions, dilemmas and situations that come with dating today. From navigating first-date expectations to decoding red flags, icks and the unwritten rules of meeting someone new, the series explores situations familiar to people navigating the modern dating scene.
Drawing on questions submitted by daters across India, Bee Line offers a personality-led take on dilemmas that often begin in group chats but rarely have easy answers.
Joining Kapoor are three-time table tennis Olympian Manika Batra and rapper Reble, each bringing a distinct perspective shaped by her own experiences. Together, the three hosts explore the nuances of modern dating, from understanding what one wants to recognising what one does not, while offering different viewpoints on meeting people and building relationships.
The India edition will roll out through individual episodes, beginning with Kapoor, followed by Reble and Batra. The series builds on Bee Line’s debut in the US earlier this summer and its expansion into Australia last month, featuring Grammy-nominated artist Troye Sivan sharing his perspective on dating.
For Kapoor, the conversation begins with knowing what one wants and being unapologetically oneself. “I’m a hopeless romantic with very high standards, which is a lot. So, I’ve always been the friend people call about their dating dilemmas. What I love about Bee Line is the questions come straight from real people. One of them was so unhinged I had to phone my sister for a second opinion. But most of the time they just need someone to say the honest things out loud, so whoever’s calling feels heard and hopefully a bit more sorted. And with the other two picking up their own calls and answering in their own way, it makes for a much more fun watch,” she said.
Batra brings the mindset of an elite athlete to the conversation, emphasising independence, individuality and finding a partner who offers support without expecting compromise. “Coming from the world of sport, I’ve always understood the importance of focus, independence and knowing what you want. The best coaches back you without trying to change you, and the right person is the same. Someone who respects who you are and supports the person you are becoming, rather than asking you to compromise who you are. Doing Bee Line alongside two women from very different worlds was a good reminder that there isn’t one definition of dating, and that’s what makes the conversation so interesting,” she said.
For Reble, the focus is on being authentic and asking honest questions rather than trying to appear unaffected. “I feel like sometimes we try way too hard to look unbothered when really we’re just overthinking it all in our heads. I do think it’s always better to just ask the honest questions and be prepared for the answers, even if sometimes it’s not exactly what you wanna hear. That’s what I like about Bee Line. It’s just honest dating advice. No overcomplicating things, no sugar-coated answers. Just telling you how it is,” she said.
With Bee Line India, Bumble aims to bring dating dilemmas out of private group chats and into open conversations, creating space for candid opinions on modern relationships. Through the perspectives of three women from different backgrounds, the series seeks to help daters recognise their own experiences in the questions being discussed.
