CARS24 Introduces Flow Time-Out: A New Period Leave Policy for Employee Well-Being

CARS24 has introduced a groundbreaking policy called Flow Time-Out, aimed at supporting the health and well-being of its female and transgender employees. This new Period Leave Policy allows eligible employees to take up to 12 days off annually specifically for menstrual health, ensuring that this time off is separate from regular sick leave and does not impact annual leave entitlements.

The Flow Time-Out policy has been designed to acknowledge and accommodate women’s unique health needs. It offers flexible options for applying for period leave, encouraging advance applications while also permitting retrospective requests if necessary.

Vikram Chopra, Founder & CEO of CARS24, stated, “Underscoring our commitment to women's health and comfort, CARS24 has introduced the Flow Time-Out option. The Period Leave Policy is a critical step towards leveling the playing field and affirming our commitment to gender equity and workplace equality.”

Ayushi, Senior Design Autonaut at CARS24, highlighted the policy’s significance, noting,“In India, only a handful of companies have embraced this progressive policy. By implementing period leaves, our team at CARS24 is not just talking about change—they’re making it happen!"

The initiative has fostered a culture of open communication about menstrual health, eliminating the stigma and embarrassment often associated with requesting period leave. The term Flow Time-Out has been introduced to normalise these conversations, allowing employees to request leave without fear of judgement.

In a symbolic gesture, the company had set up a period pain simulator at its corporate office, with male employees, including Co-Founders, participating. The policy was unveiled by Vikram Chopra during the annual town hall and has been implemented starting this month. Chopra also emphasised the company’s goal of increasing female representation within the workforce.

Chopra has added, “This is a step towards making CARS24 an inclusive and understanding workplace, free of taboos, where every employee feels valued and respected. CARS24 is not just implementing a policy but is also shaping a progressive corporate culture that values every individual.”
