Announced at the CCXP festival in São Paulo, Brazil, the prestigious ceremony will feature a star-studded orange carpet and a live-streamed broadcast for audiences worldwide.
This year, the Crunchyroll Anime Awards introduces Brazilian drag pop icon and musician Pabllo Vittar as its first-ever celebrity presenter from Brazil. Other celebrity presenters, from the worlds of film, television, sports, music, and fashion, will be revealed as the ceremony approaches.
Sally Amaki, a popular voice actress and idol, and renowned entertainer Jon Kabira will return as co-hosts, while Kenichiro Yoshida, Chairman and CEO of Sony Group Corporation, will once again deliver the opening remarks.
Rahul Purini, President of Crunchyroll, shared, “The Crunchyroll Anime Awards is one of the biggest moments for anime each year. We’re thrilled to host the awards in the birthplace of anime and celebrate the global love of this rapidly growing entertainment space.”
The Anime Awards will see a shift in its eligibility period, extending from October 1, 2023, to December 31, 2024, to include five seasons of anime. This expanded window allows fans to vote on a more comprehensive range of series, films, and creators. Moving forward, eligibility will be based on a full calendar year from January 1 to December 31.
New categories introduced for the 2025 awards include Best Isekai and Best Hindi Voice Artist, while fan favourites such as Best Opening Sequence and Best Main Character will remain. A total of 32 categories will reflect anime’s broadening influence on global pop culture. The nominees will be revealed on April 3, 2025, when global fan voting begins.
Gita Rebbapragada, Crunchyroll's Chief Operating Officer, said, “Every year, fans show immense passion in voting for their favourite anime and creators. This year will be no different as anime continues to captivate audiences around the world.”
The awards ceremony, which will take place at the Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa in Tokyo, will be streamed globally for fans to enjoy. Sony Music Solutions Inc. and Dempsey Productions will assist in executing the event.
