Crunchyroll has launched the next phase of its brand campaign in India, featuring actors Rashmika Mandanna and Tiger Shroff. The campaign aims to promote anime dubbed in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, available on the platform.
The two main ad films follow Rashmika and Tiger as they appear in anime-inspired scenarios. Rashmika is transported on a flying cat through a Japanese city that transitions into a Hindi film-style scene on a river ghat in India. In Tiger’s ad, his anime version battles samurai foes in a dungeon, where the antagonist begins speaking Tamil. The characters eventually return to reality, discovering they had unintentionally changed the app’s language settings.
“We are thrilled to return with the second edition of Crunchyroll’s brand campaign in India — an exciting continuation of our journey with anime fans here,” said Akshat Sahu, Senior Director of Marketing - APAC, Crunchyroll. “Last year, Rashmika and Tiger ventured into anime worlds with a wish to escape the mundane. This year, we build on that essence with a playful twist, spotlighting the joy of discovering anime dubbed in Indian languages like Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, along with other benefits for subscribers. Their anime avatars remain the same, bringing a sense of continuity, while the new films deliver humour, relatability, and a strong value proposition for fans across India.”
The campaign also features four short-form digital spots. These highlight same-day episode releases as Japan, a library of over 800 titles, dubbed content in multiple Indian languages, and an ad-free viewing experience, available from ₹79 per month.
The creative agency for the campaign is Tilt Brand Solutions. The anime sequences were produced by Japanese studios Drive Inc. (Rashmika’s film) and ARECT Inc. (Tiger’s film). The campaign will run nationally across digital platforms, out-of-home media, cinemas, and social media.
Crunchyroll continues to focus on providing localised anime content in India, with dubbed titles and access to new episodes as they premiere in Japan.
