DHL Express, a global leader in international express shipping, has announced the expansion and relocation of its service centre in Agra. The upgraded facility spans 3,900 square feet and incorporates advanced automation to improve operational efficiency and reinforce DHL’s support for the city’s vibrant export market.
Agra remains a crucial hub for India’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector, which contributes significantly to the regional economy through industries such as marble carving, leather goods, Zari Zardozi, footwear, and other handicrafts. The new service centre is equipped with a motorised conveyor system specifically designed for reweighing Conveyable Goods (COY), helping to streamline operations during peak periods.
"Agra has always been integral to India’s export story, and our enhanced facility reflects our decade-long commitment to this vital market. While strengthening our ability to serve customers with greater speed, efficiency, and reliability – the new service center allows linehaul departures to leave up to 30 minutes earlier for onward air connections from the Delhi gateway. This helps us maintain DHL's impressive 98.1% transit time service commitment from this service center, allowing us to maintain our commitment to service quality while optimizing operational costs, delivering lasting value for our customers,” said R.S. Subramanian, SVP South Asia, DHL Express.
"This facility demonstrates our focus on strategic improvement within our network," added Peter Bardens, Senior Vice President - Network Operations, Asia Pacific, DHL Express. "The new Agra service center provides immediate efficiency improvements and can handle significant year-over-year volume growth through 2033, ensuring long-term service stability for this market."
The modernised facility also features designated parking for pickup and delivery (PUD) vehicles, a separate area for Non-Conveyable Goods (NCY), and expanded processing space—enhancing on-route productivity and supporting Agra’s exporters in maintaining competitive transit times.
As part of a wider collaboration, DHL Express India will, in partnership with the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, launch outreach initiatives in 2025 to support local MSMEs. These initiatives will include training sessions and workshops aimed at equipping businesses with the tools needed to excel in cross-border e-commerce.
This expansion in Agra follows similar upgrades in Chandigarh and Ludhiana in December 2024, where DHL Express enhanced its service centres with spaces measuring 9,750 and 10,500 square feet respectively. These developments align with DHL’s Strategy 2030: Accelerating Sustainable Growth, reinforcing the company’s commitment to strengthening its North India network through strategic infrastructure investments.
