Edelweiss Asset Reconstruction Company (EARC) has appointed Arun Mehta as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, following approval from the Reserve Bank of India for a five-year term.
A veteran banker with more than four decades of experience, Mehta joins EARC from SBI Capital Markets (SBICAP), where he served as Managing Director and CEO. During his career with the State Bank of India group, he held leadership roles across corporate and international banking, structured finance, loan syndication, and capital markets.
Mehta succeeds interim MD and CEO Mythili Balasubramanian and takes charge at a time when the asset reconstruction sector is witnessing growing opportunities across retail and MSME stressed assets alongside traditional corporate resolutions.
EARC said Mehta’s extensive experience will support its strategic priorities of strengthening resolution capabilities, expanding fee-based services and driving long-term growth. The company reported cumulative recoveries of ₹66,210 crore over the past decade, including ₹8,590 crore in FY26, representing a 50 per cent year-on-year increase.
