FRND, an avatar-based audio social discovery platform owned by Interact Group, has launched a campaign titled ‘Surakshit Conversations’ aimed at promoting safer digital interactions for women. The initiative was announced on Friday ahead of International Women’s Day.
The campaign focuses on raising awareness about online safety and encouraging respectful interactions on the platform. As part of the initiative, FRND plans to organise in-app sessions to inform women users about safe online behaviour, recognising warning signs, and using the platform’s safety tools. The company also said it will introduce a 24x7 toll-free helpline to provide support and guidance to users.
The initiative is intended to support women users, particularly those coming online from Tier 2–4 towns, as internet adoption expands in these regions.
According to the company, the platform currently hosts close to one million conversations daily. These are monitored by a 100-member moderation team along with AI systems that track video, audio and chat interactions.
FRND said its safety systems include live moderation in public rooms and AI-assisted checks in private conversations. Women users also have access to a safety centre that allows them to warn, remove or block other users during interactions.
The platform said screen recording during video calls and screenshots of chats are not allowed. It also uses AI tools to detect objectionable content, analyse conversations in real time and identify repeat offenders who attempt to return using new devices or identities.
The company added that its video interaction design requires 80% of the screen to show a user’s face, otherwise the screen becomes blurry.
Bhanu Pratap Singh Tanwar, Co-founder & CEO, Interact Group, said, “As social networks expand deeper into Bharat, safety is no longer a feature, but a foundation of trust. For many women in Tier 2–4 towns, their first digital interaction shapes how safe the internet feels to them. At FRND, we have built a women-first safety architecture, combining AI, moderation, and product design, so that conversations remain respectful, intentional, and empowering. ‘Surakshit Conversations’ is our way of bringing this commitment to the forefront and adding another layer of protection to our systems. From regular in-app safety sessions to a 24×7 toll-free helpline, this campaign is designed to equip them with the knowledge and real-time assistance they need.”
Echoing this Bindu, a FRND user from Bangalore, shared, “What makes FRND feel safer is that nobody can take screenshots, and during video calls, users have to show most of their face, so there’s less chance of misuse. If a conversation feels uncomfortable, I can take action instantly. That gives me the confidence to talk to new people without worrying about my safety.”
