HARMAN, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and automotive technology company, has introduced the first in-vehicle display to use Samsung’s Neo QLED technology. The display debuts in the Tata Harrier.ev, marking a new development in the long-standing partnership between HARMAN and Tata Motors.
The integration of Samsung’s display technology into a vehicle environment is the result of a collaboration between the two companies aimed at enhancing in-cabin display performance. HARMAN has adapted the Neo QLED technology, previously used in consumer electronics, for automotive use.
“We’ve brought together Samsung’s cutting-edge consumer display innovation and HARMAN’s deep automotive expertise to create something truly unique: a first-of-its-kind, in-vehicle visual experience that brings living room TV-level brilliance to the road,” said Shilpa Dely, Vice President, Displays at HARMAN. “We have finally closed the gap between consumer and automotive display technology—and we’re proud to debut this global breakthrough with our trusted partners at Tata Motors.”
The 14.53-inch floating display features cadmium-free Quantum Dot technology and Blue Mini-LED control. According to HARMAN, the system is designed to balance performance and energy efficiency, with image management handled by real-time algorithms that help reduce power consumption. This is particularly aimed at electric vehicles.
The display offers a peak brightness of 1200 nits, supports a 95% NTSC colour gamut, and includes black-level control. It has bezels under 5 mm and is designed to meet automotive durability and safety standards.
“We’re committed to delivering world-class technology to Indian consumers,” said Anand Kulkarni, Chief Products Officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited. “Together with HARMAN, we’re bringing the best of consumer display innovation in India’s most capable SUV, the recently launched Harrier.ev, transforming it into a true third living space after home and office. This collaboration sets a new standard for in-cabin experiences—not just in India, but around the world.”
The partnership between HARMAN and Tata Motors began with the integration of JBL audio systems in Tata vehicles. The new display product extends this collaboration.
“Our partnership with Tata Motors spans more than a decade and is built on a like-minded approach to innovation, along with a joint promise to deliver the very best in-cabin experiences to our customers,” said Sanjeev Kulkarni, Vice President, Sales, HARMAN. “From JBL premium audio to advanced intelligent cockpit solutions, HARMAN is a defining part of the Tata driving experience. With the introduction of our new display product, we’re proud to take that collaboration even further.”
HARMAN stated that the development reflects ongoing efforts to align automotive technology with changing consumer expectations, as vehicle interiors become increasingly important in user experience design.
