On the occasion of World French Fries Day, HyFun Foods, one of the leading Indian manufacturers and exporters of frozen potato products, draws attention to India’s growing role in global food exports—anchored in innovation, agritech practices, and farmer-led initiatives.
In FY 2023–24, India exported over 135,877 tonnes of frozen French fries, valued at ₹1,478.73 crore. HyFun Foods accounted for a significant portion of this export volume, with its products reaching over 40 countries. The company’s operations underscore the role of Indian agriculture, particularly farmers in Gujarat, in meeting global demand for processed potato products.
Unlike many FMCG brands that maintain a consumer-focused narrative, HyFun Foods places emphasis on the producers behind its raw materials. This approach will be visible across its platforms during the French Fries Day observance, spotlighting the farming community it partners with.
Central to this model is HyFarm, HyFun’s agri-business unit. It began with 200 farmers and has expanded to include over 7,000 smallholders across more than 35,000 acres in North Gujarat. The company aims to grow this network to 30,000+ farmers by 2028. The focus remains on low-input, high-yield practices aimed at sustainability, climate resilience, and more stable incomes for farmers.
“What began with just 200 farmers is now a thriving community of over 7,000, a testament to the trust we’ve built and the transformation we’re driving,” said Haresh Karamchandani, Managing Director & Group CEO, HyFun Foods. He added “At HyFun, growth has never been just about numbers. It’s about empowering farmers, advancing agriculture with science and technology, and creating a profitable and sustainable future.”
HyFun’s export catalogue includes a range of potato-based products—straight cut fries, crinkle fries, coated fries, peri-peri fries, and hash browns—customized to regional and international consumer preferences. The company operates one of Asia’s largest potato processing units, with a capacity to handle over 1,000 tonnes of potatoes per day.
This World French Fries Day, HyFun Foods highlights the broader story behind the popular snack—a story that includes a robust supply chain, a large-scale agri-ecosystem, and ongoing efforts to position Indian produce in international markets.
