The International Gemological Institute (IGI) has announced the appointment of Anoop Vrajlal Mehta as Chairman and Independent Director of its Board, effective 6 June 2025, subject to shareholder approval.
Mr Mehta is currently Chairman and Managing Director of Mohit Diamonds Pvt Ltd. and President of the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB). He is also associated with industry bodies including the World Federation of Diamond Bourses and the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council.
His appointment is part of IGI’s ongoing focus on governance and the organisation’s broader strategy within the gems and jewellery sector.

Mr Mehta was involved in the development of the Bharat Diamond Bourse, which was inaugurated in 2010 during his tenure. He has received Lifetime Achievement Awards from several industry organisations, including the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council.
