In celebration of International Women’s Day, a collective of Indian women directors has launched She Directs Ads, a platform dedicated to celebrating and empowering female filmmakers in the advertising industry. Founded by a group of women directors, the initiative aims to amplify their voices and create opportunities for both emerging and established talent.
Despite their significant contributions to some of India’s most impactful advertising campaigns, women directors remain underrepresented in the field. She Directs Ads seeks to change this by fostering visibility, encouraging collaborations, and connecting women in the industry through its Instagram page, which serves as the collective’s first platform.
"This is about recognition, representation, and rewriting the narrative," says Kopal Naithani, Founder of the collective. "There are many talented women directing advertisements in India, yet only a handful are recognized. It’s time the industry—and the world—sees and supports them."
By building a strong community of women ad filmmakers, She Directs Ads aims to challenge industry norms, break down barriers, and inspire future generations, reshaping the advertising landscape in the process.
