Indriya, the jewellery brand from Aditya Birla Jewellery, has launched a new bridal collection titled Madhuragini, inspired by the traditions and visual storytelling of Madhubani art from the Mithila region of Bihar.
Crafted in 22kt gold, the collection draws from motifs associated with the wedding of Lord Ram and Sita, a recurring theme in Madhubani art. The collection includes bridal necklaces, earrings, rings, maang tikkas, naths and mangalsutra dolnas across multiple price points.
The collection has been designed in two parts—the Samyukta Haar and the Sita Haar—both drawing from traditional Madhubani symbols and wedding iconography.
The Samyukta Haar incorporates motifs such as the Dulha-Dulhan, Mor, Baratiyaan, Shankh and Tree of Life, alongside references to Palash flowers and Nrityangana figures. According to the brand, the design language attempts to translate the narrative style of Madhubani paintings into jewellery craftsmanship.
The second layer, the Sita Haar, takes inspiration from the Kohbar Ghar, traditionally associated with marriage rituals in Mithila. It includes symbols such as Latpatiya Sugga (parrots), Maach Raas (fish motifs) and Shankh elements, all commonly associated with companionship, fertility and auspiciousness in Madhubani art.
Sandeep Kohli, CEO, Indriya, said the collection was designed for consumers seeking bridal jewellery rooted in regional heritage while adapting to contemporary preferences. “At Indriya, we believe bridal jewellery should feel deeply personal. Madhuragini is an ode to Bihar’s artistic legacy and is designed for brides who remain rooted in their heritage,” he said.
Shantiswarup Panda, Head of Marketing & Visual Merchandising at Indriya, said the collection attempts to reinterpret local cultural symbols through a contemporary lens. “In Bihar, families and brides remain deeply connected to local traditions and rituals. With Madhuragini, we draw from Madhubani art and the symbolism associated with the union of Lord Ram and Sita to create a collection that connects heritage with modern bridal storytelling,” he said.
Abhishek Rastogi, Head of Design, Indriya, added that the collection focused on translating traditional Madhubani motifs into wearable jewellery formats while retaining their symbolic value. Indriya said the launch is part of its larger strategy of developing regionally inspired bridal collections, including lines influenced by traditions from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan and South Indian temple jewellery.
