Infiniti Retail Ltd., part of the Tata Group and India’s prominent consumer durables and electronics retailer, operating under the brand name Croma, has announced the appointment of Shibashish Roy as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective from 18th November 2024. This move follows the company’s succession planning process, in anticipation of the retirement of the current Managing Director and CEO, Avijit Mitra, in March 2025.
Mitra, who has helmed the company for the past nine years, will remain on the Board as Managing Director until his retirement, continuing to support Infiniti Retail through the leadership transition. Shibashish Roy, who currently serves as the Deputy CEO, has been instrumental in overseeing key areas such as store operations, eCommerce, marketing, buying, merchandising, services, and technology.
Commenting on the appointment, Naveen Tahilyani, Chairman of Infiniti Retail, expressed his gratitude to Avijit Mitra for his significant contributions during his tenure, especially in expanding revenue, building the team, and growing the Croma brand’s national footprint. Under Mitra’s leadership, Croma emerged as one of the top three electronics retailers in India.
Tahilyani further added, “Shibashish Roy is a committed and passionate leader, well-placed to continue building on Croma’s growth trajectory. His leadership in the company’s omnichannel strategy and focus on strengthening the brand and customer experience has positioned Croma for further growth. I’m confident this is the beginning of an exciting new phase for the company.”
