Marriott International has announced its latest move in the Indian hospitality market with the signing of a new JW Marriott hotel in Ludhiana, Punjab. The luxury property, expected to open in January 2029, marks a strategic collaboration with Grey Group and will bring the globally recognized JW Marriott brand to one of India’s fastest-growing industrial and entrepreneurial hubs.
Often dubbed the "Manchester of India" due to its flourishing textile and manufacturing industries, Ludhiana is poised for a major transformation—and JW Marriott is set to play a key role in that evolution.
“The signing of JW Marriott Ludhiana marks a bold step in redefining the luxury hospitality landscape of the city,” said Ranju Alex, Regional Vice President – South Asia, Marriott International. “Ludhiana’s market is at the pinnacle of transformation, and the arrival of JW Marriott — with its exceptional brand promise, world-class design, and commitment to excellence — will not only fill a long-standing gap in the city’s luxury segment but also set a new benchmark for its evolving hospitality scene.”
The hotel will be part of a mixed-use development, incorporating high-end retail and residential spaces, and is expected to feature 160 elegantly appointed rooms and suites. Guests will enjoy a selection of dining venues including an all-day restaurant, a specialty outlet, a lobby lounge, a pool bar, and the JW Market patisserie. Wellness is also central to the design, with plans for tranquil spaces such as the brand’s signature JW Garden, along with Spa by JW, a fitness centre, and a swimming pool.
Beyond leisure, the property will cater to Ludhiana’s growing business and social events market. It is expected to house 1,500 square meters of flexible banqueting space, including a spacious outdoor lawn suitable for weddings, corporate events, and intimate gatherings.
“It gives us immense pride to collaborate with Marriott International to introduce the globally renowned JW Marriott brand to our city,” said Inder Raj Singh, Owner of Grey Group. “This project is more than just a development for us – it is a significant step to reshape Ludhiana’s urban and hospitality landscape while reinforcing our ambitions across residential and commercial real estate.”
Ludhiana is rapidly emerging as a key regional hub for trade, logistics, and agriculture, and will benefit further from the upcoming airport in Halwara. The new JW Marriott will be located just 30 minutes from Ludhiana Railway Station and about 2.5 hours from Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport in Chandigarh, making it highly accessible for domestic and international travelers alike.
This signing reflects Marriott International’s strategic focus on expanding in high-growth Indian cities by bringing its premium and luxury offerings to new markets.
