The Media Research Users Council India (MRUCI) has appointed Kaacon Sethi as CEO, effective 8 October 2026, filling a leadership position that has remained vacant for nearly six years.
Sethi takes charge at a pivotal point for MRUCI, with the organisation preparing for the revival of the Indian Readership Survey (IRS). The re-launched study is expected to feature an enhanced design, refined methodology and a new framework for measuring media quality and impact.
With more than 35 years of experience across India’s media, entertainment, sports, content and marketing ecosystem, Sethi has held leadership roles across agencies, broadcasters and media organisations.
She began her career in media planning and buying before joining Sony Entertainment Television, where she headed Marketing & Sales for SET and concurrently launched Sony MAX as its Business Head with P&L responsibility. She later served as CEO of K Sera Sera Productions and led branded content solutions at Lintas Media Group.
Most recently, Sethi spent more than a decade as Chief Corporate Marketing Officer at the Dainik Bhaskar Group. She subsequently served as Client Lead for the Kantar–Dainik Bhaskar Urban Bharat initiative and Report.
“I am very excited to have Kaacon lead MRUCI at a stage where Audience Measurement not only needs credibility, it also needs reimagination. I wish her all the best,” said Vikram Sakhuja, Chairman, MRUCI.
Sethi added, “I am delighted to take on this responsibility at MRUCI. Audience measurement has an important role to play in helping the media industry understand changing media consumption behaviour that help make more informed decisions. I look forward to having the guidance and support of the Management, the Board and all our stakeholders as we take this responsibility forward.”
Her appointment comes as MRUCI works towards bringing the IRS back with an updated approach to understanding India’s changing media consumption behaviour.
