L’Oréal India has announced the launch of La Roche-Posay (LRP), a dermatologist-recommended skincare brand, expanding its dermo-cosmetics portfolio under the L’Oréal Dermatological Beauty division (LDB) in India.
The initial product range includes four key lines: Mela B3 Serum, formulated with Melasyl™, a patented molecule designed to reduce dark spots and melasma across skin tones; Anthelios, a broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection sunscreen developed for sensitive skin; Cicaplast, created to support skin barrier recovery; and Effaclar, designed for acne-prone skin.
Founded in 1975, La Roche-Posay has worked with dermatologists to develop skincare solutions for sensitive skin. Each formulation contains La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water, naturally rich in selenium, known for its antioxidant and calming properties.

L’Oréal’s Dermatological Beauty Division entered India in 2023 with the launch of CeraVe.
India reports a high prevalence of hyperpigmentation and dark spots, such as melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, due to UV exposure and hormonal factors. The new Mela B3 Serum is powered by Melasyl™, developed by L’Oréal’s Research & Innovation team after 18 years of research. The formulation targets excess melanin production to reduce pigmentation and dark spots. It has been clinically shown to reduce up to 90% cases of persistent dark spots, this serum offers a science-backed solution tailored specifically for Indian skin.
“La Roche-Posay represents a gold standard in dermatological skincare where efficacy meets tolerance. Its formulations, guided by decades of clinical research, offer science-backed solutions even for the most sensitive skin. The introduction of innovations like Melasyl™ marks a milestone in addressing pigmentation concerns prevalent in Indian skin. This launch truly empowers dermatologists to offer patients effective, safe, and personalized care rooted in scientific excellence,” said Dr. Jaishree Sharad, Internationally renowned Celebrated cosmetic dermatologist & Medical Director, Skinfinitii Aesthetic & Laser Clinic, Mumbai.
