The electrifying energy of cricket meets the creative brilliance of Mumbai’s art scene as Mumbai Indians, in collaboration with the city-based artist collective Arthat Studio LLP, unveil stunning, life-size sculptures of four of their cricketing icons.
The towering 12-foot figures of Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Surya Kumar Yadav, and Jasprit Bumrah now stand proudly at the arrival terminal (T2) of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, offering an awe-inspiring welcome to visitors and a striking tribute to the team’s stalwarts.
This initiative is part of Mumbai Indians’ ongoing #PlayLikeMumbai campaign, aimed at inspiring future generations through the legacy of their celebrated players. The placement of these sculptures at one of the city’s busiest gateways strengthens the emotional bond between the team and its passionate fan base.
Arthat Studio has demonstrated exceptional craftsmanship in capturing not only the likenesses but also the unique personalities of the players. The studio's team has created visually arresting statues that reflect each cricketer’s spirit – from “Rohit Sharma’s composed presence”, to “Hardik Pandya’s dynamic stance”, “Surya Kumar Yadav’s innovative flair”, and “Jasprit Bumrah’s focused intensity”.
These sculptures are more than just decorative installations; they are symbolic monuments to the values of dedication, perseverance, and excellence that the Mumbai Indians represent.
“This artistic endeavour transcends mere decoration; it's a powerful statement about the impact these players have on the city and its sporting culture,” said a team spokesperson. “As part of the #PlayLikeMumbai campaign, these sculptures serve as a constant source of inspiration, embodying the values of dedication, skill, and unwavering spirit that the Mumbai Indians champion.”
For those arriving in Mumbai, the statues provide not only a visual spectacle but also a heartfelt introduction to a city where cricket is more than a sport – it’s a way of life.
