Mahesh Shetty has been appointed as the new Head of Revenue, Entertainment at JioStar, following the departure of Ajit Varghese. Shetty, who previously the Head of Revenue, Large Customer Sales business at the network, will now take on a broader role overseeing monetisation efforts across JioStar’s television, digital, and international platforms.
Shetty joined JioStar in November 2024 after a successful tenure as Head of Network Sales at Viacom18. At JioStar, he initially reported to Varghese and was responsible for key account relationships and cross-platform solutions aimed at large-scale advertisers. With this elevation, he steps into a pivotal leadership role at a time when the joint venture between Reliance and Disney is rapidly expanding its integrated media offerings.
Armed with over two decades of experience in media, sales, and strategic leadership, Shetty has built a reputation for driving revenue growth and building strong client relationships across platforms. His stint at Viacom18 was marked by sharp revenue strategies and a focus on delivering value across genres and audiences.
Before that, Shetty spent significant years at Radio Mirchi, where he held several leadership positions including Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Operating Officer. During his time there, he led business transformation initiatives, strengthened market presence, and worked on digital innovations in the audio space.
At JioStar, Shetty is now tasked with leading the revenue strategy across entertainment properties and engaging clients in a highly fragmented, multi-screen media landscape. His deep understanding of the broadcast, radio, and digital ecosystems makes him well-suited to steer the network’s commercial strategy in a complex and evolving market.
