Mithun K. Chittilappilly has been appointed Chairperson & Managing Director of V-Guard Industries, effective September 27, 2026, taking on the additional responsibility after the completion of Radha Unni’s second and final term as Chairperson and Independent Director.
Chittilappilly has been Managing Director of V-Guard since 2012, having joined the company in 2006 as Executive Director. Over the past two decades, he has played a central role in its expansion from a South Indian electrical brand into a diversified, pan-India consumer durables company.
When Chittilappilly joined V-Guard, the company’s turnover stood at around ₹229 crore. By FY2026, it had grown to ₹5,966 crore, a 24-fold increase.
His tenure has seen V-Guard expand its geographical footprint, diversify its portfolio and grow its manufacturing capabilities. The company now has 15 manufacturing facilities across seven states and operates across more than 20 categories.
The organisation has also grown significantly in scale, with its workforce increasing from around 575 employees in 2006 to 11,350 as of August 2026.
Chittilappilly has also overseen transformation across areas including brand, customer service, supply chain, sales and marketing, human resources and finance. These initiatives have helped the company move from a people-dependent organisation towards more process-led systems and capabilities.
“It is an honour and a privilege to take on the responsibility of Chairperson & Managing Director of V-Guard Industries at a defining moment in the company’s journey. Over the past two decades, I have had the privilege to witness and contribute along with my team to V-Guard’s transformation from a regional brand into a strong growing pan-Indian organisation. As V-Guard moves towards its 50th anniversary, I see this milestone as an opportunity to build on our strong foundation and prepare the organisation for its next phase of growth,” said Mithun K. Chittilappilly, Chairperson & Managing Director, V-Guard Industries Limited.
During his tenure, V-Guard has also received recognition across workplace practices, design and brand strength, including being named among the World’s Most Trustworthy Companies 2025 by Newsweek and Statista, and India’s Best Employer 2025 by TIME magazine. The company has also received five Red Dot Global Design Awards and Superbrand status in the voltage stabiliser category for five consecutive years.
Chittilappilly’s progression from Executive Director in 2006 to Managing Director in 2012 and now Chairperson & Managing Director in 2026 closely mirrors V-Guard’s own evolution as it heads towards its 50th anniversary.
