CNN-News18 has announced the return of Muralidharan Kasiviswanathan to its newsroom, where he takes charge as News Director (Converged Output) with immediate effect.
In his new role, Kasiviswanathan will oversee the output function across platforms, with responsibility for news judgment, framing and presentation of stories, and seamless execution across time bands. His mandate extends beyond linear television, reflecting the organisation’s evolving newsroom priorities and digital-first approach.
A key part of his role will involve leadership across emerging and growth platforms, most notably Connected TV (CTV) and YouTube. He will focus on driving coherence, speed and impact in how journalism is delivered to audiences across digital ecosystems, ensuring alignment between editorial intent and platform-specific execution.
Kasiviswanathan brings extensive editorial experience, a strong command of live news operations, and a deep understanding of the demands of a multi-platform newsroom. His return is positioned as a strengthening of the leadership bench at a time when integration across formats is critical to the organisation’s growth and relevance.
In addition, as CNN-News18 continues to function as a key experimentation hub for CTV within the network, Kasiviswanathan will also remain involved in shaping and drafting the network’s broader CTV strategy, contributing to long-term platform innovation and audience engagement.
