The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has launched its new ‘RuPay On-The-Go’ campaign, aimed at promoting the RuPay National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) as the ultimate solution for efficient and seamless transit across India. The campaign highlights the RuPay NCMC’s role in transforming the way commuters pay for travel, offering convenience, speed, and unmatched ease of use.
The RuPay NCMC is a cutting-edge payment solution designed to address the challenges in India’s public transit systems. With its open-loop and interoperable design, it combines payments for metro, buses, tolls, parking, and retail into a single, unified system. The card’s stored value function also allows for offline transactions, ensuring a quick, uninterrupted journey even without internet connectivity.
Currently, RuPay NCMC is operational across a growing number of cities and transit networks, including metros in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Ahmedabad, and Kanpur, along with bus services in cities such as Mumbai, Guwahati, Haryana, Jammu, Srinagar, Himachal Pradesh, and Aurangabad.
The ‘RuPay On-The-Go’ campaign showcases the card’s role as the ideal payment solution for commuters who value time and efficiency. Its contactless feature reinforces its connection to public transport, while its versatility as both a transit and retail payment tool ensures its place in the daily lives of busy, on-the-go individuals.
Kunal Kalawatia, Chief of Products at NPCI, stated, "RuPay On-The-Go revolutionises public transportation by offering a fast and convenient transit payment option. It’s not just a payment method, but a lifestyle choice for individuals who want efficiency and seamless travel. Expanding the contactless payment system across metros and buses will make commuting smoother for millions across India.”
