Oben Electric marked National Road Safety Month with a city-led initiative titled #SaluteAtSignal, aimed at honouring the Bengaluru Traffic Police and drawing attention to the role they play in maintaining safety, order and movement across one of India’s most traffic-intensive urban road networks.
Conducted over a week across some of Bengaluru’s busiest junctions, the initiative sought to shift public attention from congestion and daily commuting stress to the human effort behind traffic management. At every red signal, commuters were encouraged to pause, acknowledge and show respect to traffic officers managing intersections for long hours each day.
Bengaluru’s rapid urban growth has placed sustained pressure on traffic infrastructure, with personnel often managing high-density junctions for extended shifts under challenging conditions. The initiative was designed to recognise officers who uphold road discipline and safety daily, while also encouraging greater empathy and responsible behaviour among commuters.
The activity was carried out at Sony Signal in Koramangala and Vydehi Signal in Whitefield, two intersections that handle heavy traffic volumes daily. During peak evening hours between 6 pm and 9 pm, commuters were invited through brief public announcements to participate by switching on parking or hazard lights for a few seconds, refraining from honking and remaining stationary at red signals, creating a visible moment of collective acknowledgement.

At Sony Signal, Koramangala, the initiative recognised Shanoor Nadaf (PC 15996) from the Adugodi Traffic Police Station, who manages traffic for nearly eight hours daily, including close to five peak hours, at an intersection handling close to one lakh vehicles per shift. At Vydehi Signal, Whitefield, Sangamesh Desai (PC 18308) was acknowledged for managing traffic for eight hours daily and overseeing approximately 15,000 vehicles per shift at one of Whitefield’s key junctions.
Informational boards installed at both locations displayed the officers’ names, designations, years of service, duty hours, peak hours handled and average vehicle volume per shift, offering commuters context on the scale and responsibility of traffic management. Over the course of the week, thousands of commuters participated in the coordinated red-signal gestures across both junctions.
The initiative aligns with Oben Electric’s broader focus on safety and urban mobility. The company designs and manufactures its electric motorcycles and EV components in-house at its Bengaluru facility, with an emphasis on safety and reliability for city commuting. Its product portfolio includes the Rorr, Rorr EZ and Rorr EZ Sigma models, built for Indian urban conditions, and powered by patented LFP battery technology.
With a retail presence across more than 85 showrooms in over 70 cities and plans to expand to 150 exclusive showrooms and service centres by March 2026, Oben Electric continues to engage with road safety beyond product development. Through #SaluteAtSignal, the company extended its focus to recognising the people who manage daily road safety, reinforcing the idea that safer mobility begins with mutual respect on the road.
