Odonil, the air freshener brand from Dabur India, has launched a new regional campaign built around the idea of bathroom freshness and the impression a home leaves on guests.
Conceptualised by Pepper Content, the campaign comprises seven films, each developed for a different market rather than adapting a single television commercial across regions. The films are rooted in the cultural and conversational dynamics of Delhi, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, Punjab and West Bengal.
The campaign is anchored by the line ‘Bathroom mein Odonil nahi, toh aapki badnaami ho rahi hogi kahin’ and uses humour to highlight the social perception associated with an unfresh bathroom. The films focus on conversations and gossip among guests after they leave a home, rather than depicting direct reactions to an unpleasant smell.
The campaign draws on the consumer behaviour of ‘nose-blindness’, where people become accustomed to the smells in their own surroundings and may not notice what visitors experience. Odonil uses this insight to position bathroom freshness as part of the overall impression a home creates.
Abhishek Jugran, Director Marketing, Dabur India Ltd., said: "As India's leading air freshener brand, Odonil continues to strengthen its pole position in the category through innovation, premiumisation and consumer-centric communication. The brand has recorded strong growth over the years and continues to expand its presence in India's growing home-care market. This campaign reflects our commitment to building category relevance through powerful consumer insights and culturally authentic storytelling. By addressing a familiar social reality through humour and regional narratives, Odonil aims to make bathroom freshness a more integral part of how Indian consumers care for and welcome guests into their homes”.
Vaibhav Rathi, Marketing Head, Home Care, Dabur India Ltd., said: "Indian homes are a reflection of personal pride, and consumers invest a lot in home-décor and go to great lengths to make guests feel welcome. Yet, people often become so familiar with their own surroundings that they can overlook things that are immediately noticeable to a visitor. This campaign stems from that very human insight. 'Bathroom mein Odonil nahi, toh aapki badnaami ho rahi hogi kahin' captures, with humour, a social reality that many consumers will recognise, while reinforcing the role bathroom freshness plays in shaping the overall impression a home leaves behind."
The campaign marks Odonil’s regional approach to communication, with the brand maintaining a common proposition while tailoring the storytelling to individual markets.
