Omaxe Ltd. has announced that a key stand at its upcoming cricket stadium in Dwarka will be named after Harmanpreet Kaur, captain of the Indian women’s cricket team. The stand will also be designated as a ‘Pink Stand’, positioned as a space designed for women and families.
The Harmanpreet Kaur Stand will be located in the North (Pavilion) Lower Bowl of the 30,000-seat stadium and will accommodate over 1,500 spectators. The venue forms the centrepiece of The Omaxe State, a 50-acre integrated sports and lifestyle development in Dwarka Sector 19B, with an estimated investment of Rs 2,500 crore. The project is being developed in partnership with the Delhi Development Authority.
The company said the Pink Stand concept was developed in consultation with Kaur, who also contributed inputs on athlete-focused infrastructure, including facilities for women players. The move marks an effort to improve inclusivity in stadium design, particularly for female spectators and athletes.
Omaxe had earlier signed Kaur as its brand ambassador ahead of India’s ICC Women’s World Cup win in 2025. The recognition also makes her among the few women cricketers in India to have multiple stadium stands named after them.
Alongside the stadium announcement, Omaxe said it has appointed Bentel Associates International as architecture and interior consultant for the project’s commercial, hotel and club components. The development will include a fully air-conditioned retail high street, a five-star Gateway Hotel by Indian Hotels Company Limited, and a membership-based sports club.
“It is truly special to have a stand named after me at The Omaxe State. Cricket has given me so much over the years and this recognition makes the journey even more meaningful. I am grateful to Omaxe for this honour, and it was a pleasure to be included in the planning phase of the stadium to make it more inclusive toward women. It is wonderful to see women’s cricket being recognised in such a meaningful way, and I hope this stadium inspires many young athletes to pursue sports with passion,” said Harmanpreet Kaur.
“Harmanpreet's journey is about discipline, resilience, and leadership. Naming a stand after her at The Omaxe State is our way of honouring that journey and acknowledging how far women's sport has come in India. We onboarded her even before the World Cup win because we believed in what she stands for. At her suggestion, we are introducing the Pink Stand for women with a capacity of 1500+, to make stadiums more inclusive. We have also welcomed her inputs on facilities that are still hard to find in Indian stadiums, such as separate facilities for women athletes. To bring this vision to life, we have partnered with Bentel and other global consultants to ensure that the design, whether for the stadium or the hotel and commercial spaces, meets world-class standards. In fact, the stadium is designed keeping in mind India’s long-term ambition of hosting international sporting events such as the Olympics, FIFA tournaments, Paralympics and Commonwealth Games,” said Mohit Goel, Managing Director, Omaxe.
Beyond the stadium, the wider development is planned as a mixed-use destination integrating sports infrastructure with retail, hospitality and entertainment. It will include an indoor arena for multi-sport events and concerts, a retail district spanning over 48,000 square metres, and a hospitality component featuring a 158-key hotel with stadium-facing suites.
The project will also incorporate features such as AI-driven entry systems, multiple access points for crowd management, and dedicated facilities for women and para-athletes, reflecting a broader push to align with international venue standards.
