OPPO has unveiled its ambitious AI strategy at the OPPO AI Tech Summit during MWC2025, positioning itself as a leader in mobile AI by providing secure, continuously evolving solutions for users. The brand is one of the first smartphone companies to implement a Private Computing Cloud (PCC) and has partnered with Google to integrate the Gemini AI system across OPPO devices.
“We are excited to collaborate with OPPO to shape the future of mobile AI by bringing together Google technologies with OPPO’s exceptional hardware and software,” said Matt Waldbusser, Managing Director for Global Solution and Consumer AI, Google Cloud. “Through our extensive partnership spanning apps, AI models and cloud solutions, we are unlocking immense potential to redefine the mobile AI experience.”
In its collaboration with Google, OPPO aims to take AI from a functional-level to a system-level, where advanced capabilities like Google Gemini will soon be integrated into OPPO apps, including Notes, Calendar, and Clock. These improvements will be powered by OPPO’s AI hardware and software, with support for Google’s Gemini 1.5 Pro and Gemini 1.5 Flash, as well as the upcoming Gemini 2.0.
OPPO has also prioritised user security and privacy by implementing the Private Computing Cloud, built with Confidential Computing from Google Cloud. AI features, such as AI Call Summary, AI Search, and AI Studio, will be integrated with this cloud system later in 2025.
"When it comes to AI, the user experience is ultimately all that matters," said Billy Zhang, President of Overseas Marketing, Sales and Services at OPPO. "Smartphones are not just a vehicle for AI – they are the engines that power the best possible AI experiences."
Focusing on three core areas – AI Productivity, AI Creativity, and AI Imaging – OPPO has developed a comprehensive AI R&D strategy that spans chips, devices, and the cloud. The company is working closely with MediaTek to optimise chips for high-efficiency AI processing, ensuring superior performance while maintaining energy efficiency.
On the device side, OPPO is incorporating advanced technologies like LoRA (Low-Rank Adaptation), Parallel Decoding Solution, and MoE (Mixture of Experts), which will significantly enhance AI performance. Furthermore, OPPO’s extensive cloud security system ensures seamless integration and user data protection.
Having surpassed its 2024 goal of reaching 50 million AI users, OPPO now aims to bring generative AI features to 100 million users by the end of 2025. The company plans to roll out an average of one new AI update every month, with exciting new features such as AI Call Translator and AI VoiceScribe. AI Call Translator will allow real-time language translation during calls, while AI VoiceScribe will offer multi-use voice summarisation for calls, meetings, and online learning.
Spanish football legend David Villa attended the event, experiencing OPPO’s AI first-hand. He expressed interest in using the technology to enhance his personal and professional life.
OPPO’s AI-driven smartphones, including the Find N5, Reno13 series, and Find X8 series, were also showcased by leading industry partners like Google, MediaTek, and Qualcomm at MWC2025. OPPO’s continuous innovations and collaborations highlight the company’s commitment to revolutionising the mobile AI experience.
