Pocket FM Appoints Former Meta AI Scientist Vasu Sharma as Head of AI

Audio series platform Pocket FM has appointed Vasu Sharma, former scientist at Meta’s Facebook AI Research (FAIR) division, as its Head of AI. Sharma will report to Prateek Dixit, Co-Founder, Pocket FM, and will lead the company’s AI research and applied innovation across narrative generation, production intelligence and large-scale localisation.

In his new role, Sharma will oversee development of Pocket FM’s foundation models and AI-driven tools aimed at supporting creators and expanding the platform’s storytelling capabilities across markets.

Prior to joining Pocket FM, Sharma was part of Meta’s FAIR division, where he worked on multimodal and large language model programmes including Llama, Chameleon, MaVIL and several next-generation audio-video foundation models. He has authored more than 90 research papers across conferences such as NeurIPS, CVPR, ACL, EMNLP and ICLR, with over 10,000 citations. His research has focused on long-context reasoning, narrative intelligence and audio-video modelling.

Sharma’s mandate includes advancing the company’s proprietary Pocket FM AI CoPilot and Pocket LLMs, which support story ideation, drafting, plot development, editing, emotional toning and multilingual adaptation for the platform’s global creator ecosystem. He will also be responsible for building fiction-focused AI models and scaling AI-assisted production workflows, while maintaining human-led creative processes.
