Reliance Consumer Products Limited (RCPL), the FMCG arm of Reliance Industries, has acquired Southern Health Foods Private Limited, the Tamil Nadu based company behind the popular health foods brand Manna. The acquisition strengthens RCPL’s presence in the fast-growing healthy foods segment and expands its foods and staples portfolio.
Founded over two decades ago, Southern Health Foods is a key player in health focused packaged foods, with a strong footprint across categories such as millets, oats, multigrain products, breakfast cereals, health mixes and dry fruits. Its flagship brand Manna is widely recognised for its range of nutritious offerings, including millet flours, baby foods and multigrain drink mixes, catering to the rising demand for wholesome, traditional and functional foods.
With this acquisition, Manna joins RCPL’s existing portfolio of food brands, which includes Udhaiyam, Independence and SiL. The move aligns with RCPL’s strategy to scale up its foods business by adding trusted regional brands with strong consumer recall and established manufacturing capabilities.
T. Krishnakumar, Director, Reliance Consumer Products Limited, said, “Manna is one of the most trusted names in the health focused foods market in Tamil Nadu with noticeable presence in the adjoining states. It is known for healthy offerings like millet-based staples and mixes, drinks and baby food. Apart from adding muscle to RCPL’s packaged foods portfolio, Manna’s addition will help us serve consumers the best nutritious foods. With our strong distribution, R&D and supply chain capabilities, Manna would be made available in other geographies - eventually making it a household name across the country.”
The addition of Southern Health Foods is expected to enhance RCPL’s reach in South India while enabling the wider distribution of Manna’s products across the country, tapping into India’s growing preference for health oriented packaged foods.
