Senior television journalist Sumit Awasthi has stepped down from his role at NDTV, marking the end of his nearly two-and-a-half-year tenure with the network. During this period, he served as Consulting Editor and anchored the shows Hum Bharat Ke Log and Khabron Ki Khabar.
Awasthi, who has spent close to 25 years in broadcast journalism, is regarded as one of India’s prominent political journalists. Before joining NDTV in July 2023, he held the position of Vice President (News & Production) at ABP News, where he began as Consulting Editor in 2018. His earlier stints include Deputy Managing Editor at Network18 and Resident Editor at Zee News, contributing to his strong editorial credentials.
He has also been associated with Aaj Tak for nearly five years as Deputy Editor, earning recognition for his deep understanding of Indian politics and impactful reportage.
Throughout his career, Awasthi has received multiple awards, including the Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award, the Madhav Jyoti Award, and honour at the ENBA (exchange4media News Broadcasting Awards).
