Shriram Finance Limited (SFL) has partnered with EMRI Green Health Services to support public awareness for the Government of India’s unified emergency helpline number 112 under the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) – Jan Rakshak initiative in Gujarat. EMRI Green Health Services is the not-for-profit organisation that operates the 108 ambulance services and implements the 112 ERSS system.
As part of this collaboration, Shriram Finance is installing emergency awareness boards across major highways and junctions in districts including Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Mehsana, Gandhinagar, Kutch, Bharuch, Bhavnagar, Kheda, Banaskantha, and Patan. According to the company, these boards aim to inform commuters about the emergency number 112, which provides integrated support for police, fire, medical and other crises.
Shriram Finance has also stated that it plans to explore extending this initiative to other states, in coordination with respective authorities and implementation partners of the 112 ERSS.
Jashvant Prajapati, Chief Operating Officer, EMRI Green Health Services, Gujarat State, said, “Successful implementation of the 112 ERSS – Jan Rakshak initiative of Union Ministry of Home Affairs & Government of Gujarat reflects our commitment under PPP model to ensure quick, coordinated, and reliable emergency assistance for every citizen. Public awareness is vital for its success, and we welcome the partnership of institutions like Shriram Finance in extending this message across Gujarat’s highways. Their support helps amplify the reach of this life-saving service.”
Previously, different emergency numbers existed—100 for Police, 108 for Ambulance, 101 for Fire, 181 for Women, 1098 for Child Emergencies, and 1070/1077 for Disaster Management. These have now been consolidated into a single national helpline number 112 to enable faster and unified emergency response.
Elizabeth Venkataraman, Executive Director – Marketing, Shriram Finance Ltd., said, “As a company deeply rooted in serving communities, we see safety and accessibility as part of our core responsibility. Partnering with EMRI Green Health Services for the 112 ERSS – Jan Rakshak public awareness initiative, which supports the Government of India’s vision of a unified emergency response system, is our way of helping citizens know that assistance is just one call away. It’s a small contribution toward building a safer and more responsive nation.”
Shriram Finance said that this initiative aligns with its broader commitments to community safety and public welfare.
