Uday Jadhav: ‘Phygital approach poised for growth’ in 2025

While speaking about 2024 in the Print sector, Uday Jadhav, CEO, Sakal Media Group, said, “In 2024, print media reaffirmed its relevance with record-breaking ad volumes, particularly during festivals like Ganapati and Diwali. Sakal stood out, printing 40% more pages than its closest competitor, underscoring print's dominance and trustworthiness. Key drivers included real estate, retail, and automobile sectors, leveraging print's unmatched reach and credibility. Content-wise, readers are increasingly responding to hyperlocal content, while global news with local impact has emerged as a major driver. Additionally, subscription drives in smaller markets have seen strong engagement, re-establishing print’s connection with audiences.”

Sharing his insights about what trends will pickup in 2025 for the medium, Jadhav shared, “In 2025, the print sector is poised for growth, driven by emerging trends. Ground events are gaining traction, with strong ticketing responses creating a new revenue stream and a shift from the highly digital COVID-era trend to on-ground engagement. Media houses hosting events are reinforcing their brand's trustworthiness and deepening audience connections. Input prices for the newspaper industry are now stable, enabling better profitability.  Even on the content front, phygital approaches will thrive—QR codes and UI-based print articles will enhance reader experiences.”
