Vega Auto launched the ‘Pehnoge to Bachoge’ campaign, a nationwide public safety awareness initiative focused on discouraging the practice of carrying helmets instead of wearing them while riding two-wheelers.
The campaign addresses a pattern in which riders own helmets primarily to avoid traffic fines rather than to use them for protection. According to the company, the aim is to encourage a shift from helmet ownership to consistent helmet use on every ride.

India records more than 400,000 road fatalities each year. Of these, over 55,000 involve two-wheeler riders who were not wearing helmets at the time of the accident, despite having one with them. Vega Auto’s campaign highlights this issue through a 60-second film set in Mumbai traffic. The film depicts everyday riders, including a father travelling with his family, a working professional, and a college student, carrying helmets instead of wearing them. The film ends with a crash scene, followed by a helmet spinning in the air, and the message: “Wearing a helmet saves lives. Carrying one doesn’t.” The campaign uses the hashtag #WearItDontCarryIt.
Dilip Chandak, Chairman, Vega Auto, said, “Every year we sell lakhs of world-class helmets, yet we see the same heartbreaking sight on our roads where helmets dangle from handlebars, arms, or are used as footrests while heads remain unprotected. At Vega Auto, we celebrate when someone chooses Vega, but our job isn’t done until that helmet is worn on every journey. The statistics are heartbreaking because the solution already exists in millions of homes. Pehnoge toh Bachoge is our commitment to shift the nation from helmet ownership to helmet usage, from evading fines to embracing life. Let’s turn every helmet into the protection it was designed to be.”
The campaign has been ideated and executed by Scratchpad Creative Agency and with it Vega Auto has called on riders, influencers, policymakers and the wider public to support the campaign and promote helmet use as a routine part of riding across the country.
