WhatsApp has rolled out a new set of features aimed at improving how users manage conversations storage and overall chat experience especially for those using multiple devices and accounts.
One of the key updates is the introduction of cross-platform chat transfer allowing users to move chat history between iOS and Android devices. Earlier transfers were limited within the same platform but users can now carry conversations photos and videos across operating systems making device switching more seamless.
The update also introduces enhanced storage management tools to address the build up of media files within chats. Users can now access storage controls within individual conversations identify large files and delete them without removing the entire chat. There is also an option to clear only media content while retaining text messages which gives users more flexibility in managing space.
WhatsApp has also expanded multi account support on iOS allowing two accounts to be used simultaneously on a single device. This enables users to manage personal and work conversations without logging out. The interface also displays the active account’s profile picture in the tab bar helping users easily identify which account is in use.
In addition the update includes AI driven features designed to make communication more efficient and expressive. These include AI writing assistance that suggests replies based on conversation context tools to edit images within chats such as removing objects changing backgrounds or applying styles and sticker suggestions that appear when users type emojis.
The company said that these features are being rolled out gradually and will be available to users over time.
