Zepto Café Discovers India's New Snacking Trends Across Cities

India’s love for food is timeless, but the country’s snacking culture is evolving, with a fresh mix of traditional flavours and new twists. Zepto Café, known for its dynamic approach to snacking, has found some intriguing trends in major cities across the country.

In Mumbai, the home of the iconic Vada Pav, the city’s snack scene is being redefined. While Vada Pav remains beloved, Zepto Café’s two leading choices are now Samosas paired with Garlic Bread and Cheese Dip, an unusual but popular fusion. It’s clear that Mumbai is embracing a remix of the classic street food, fusing nostalgic elements with bold, new flavours.

Meanwhile, in Bangalore, a city renowned for its coffee culture, the traditional filter coffee is being dethroned. Adrak Chai, a spiced ginger tea, has emerged as the city’s new snack MVP, outselling filter coffee by three times. It’s a twist that highlights Bangalore’s deeper connection to its roots, blending tradition with the fast pace of modern life.

In Chennai, the usual Medu Vada and Sambar Dip have been overshadowed by a more cosmopolitan snack. Mini Butter Croissants are now 4X more popular, marking a shift in snack preferences. The city known for its rich South Indian cuisine is embracing the French pastry in a perfect blend of Parisian chic and Chennai’s vibrant snack culture.

Hyderabad, synonymous with its famed Biryani, is making waves with a quirky snack pairing: Bun Maska, a buttery bun, teamed with Vietnamese Cold Coffee. The contrast of comforting and cool flavours is capturing hearts across the city.

In Delhi-NCR, where non-vegetarian snacks dominate, it’s a vegetarian delight that’s leading the way: Veg Puff. Despite the area’s strong preference for non-veg foods, this humble vegetarian snack is claiming the title of most ordered item.

Pune, another food hotspot, has settled on a trio of snacks that define the city’s culinary scene: Samosa, Veg Puff, and Vietnamese Cold Coffee. These treats form the heart of Pune’s evolving snack culture.

As urban India continues to juggle work, traffic, and social media, convenience and versatility are key drivers of these snack trends. But one thing remains unchanged: Indian snacks may be evolving, but they never stray too far from tradition. Whether it’s a comforting chai break or a croissant on a busy morning, Zepto Café’s findings reveal how Indians are balancing nostalgia with modernity in their snack choices.
