On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (PwD), Zomato, India’s food ordering and delivery platform, unveiled a new film that celebrates resilience of its hearing-impaired delivery partners and highlights how small acts of kindness can make their daily hustle more meaningful.
The film follows the journey of Rakesh, one of 1,000+ hearing and speech impaired delivery partners on board Zomato. It captures his resilience as he delivers with a hearing impairment, while revealing how customers’ appreciation often doesn’t reach him in the way he can truly experience.
This changes in the film’s closing moments, when a young customer uses sign language to thank him, prompted by a tutorial on the Zomato customer app offering a simple guide on how to communicate gratitude in sign language.
Speaking about the initiative, Anjalli Ravi Kumar, Chief Sustainability Officer, Eternal, said, “This campaign puts a spotlight on our PwD delivery partners, who show incredible commitment while navigating challenges unique to them. We want to empower delivery partners with disabilities not just by supporting them as they access livelihood opportunities but also through everyday moments of empathy and understanding. Even a small gesture of appreciation can make them feel a little more seen and supported.”
