IMPACT has learnt that Sambit Mohanty has joined YAAP as Group Chief Creative Officer, following his exit from his expanded leadership role at McCann. YAAP is a new-age digital marketing, content and technology services company operating in the rapidly growing marketing and creator economy space, led by founder Atul Hegde.
Speaking on his appointment, Mohanty said: "The traditional boundaries between advertising, content, social media, creators and technology no longer exist. The future belongs to integrated ideas that can move seamlessly across platforms and cultures. And as Jiddu Krishnamurti famously said, ‘The future is now.’ YAAP has built a strong foundation with an entrepreneurial mindset, digital DNA and an appetite for disruption. That combination is incredibly exciting, and I look forward to helping shape the next chapter of growth while creating work that drives both cultural impact and business results."
Mohanty was last at McCann, having ended a tenure that saw him take on expanded leadership responsibilities at the agency’s Bengaluru office. In May 2025, Mohanty was appointed Business Leader and Creative Head of McCann Bengaluru, overseeing both commercial and creative operations. The move reflected the agency’s confidence in his strategic and creative leadership capabilities.
In the past, he has also worked with agencies like DDB Mudra, JWT, Bates and so on. With more than two decades of experience in the advertising industry, Mohanty is recognised for his strong brand acumen and expertise in crafting impactful communications.
He is known for campaigns such as—Facebook - 'thumbstoppers' & 'Times of India Lost Votes', Coca Cola 'Khud Ko Jagaa, Ek Thandaa Laga', and 'Shagun Ka Lifafa' for Ujjivan Small Finance Bank.
Mohanty’s appointment comes at a pivotal stage in YAAP’s growth journey. Following its successful public listing and a period of expansion across India, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, the company is strengthening its creative capabilities as it looks to drive the next phase of growth and innovation. In his new role, Mohanty will spearhead creative vision and excellence across the YAAP network, bringing together brand storytelling, social, content, influencer marketing, technology and AI-powered creativity into an integrated offering tailored for the evolving needs of modern marketers.
